Please join us for our annual Mentoring Day, to be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, at: One Vanderbilt What is Mentoring Day? YM/WREA Mentors will be paired up with graduate students from NYU Schack, Columbia University, Fordham University and Baruch College. Mentors are expected to invite their Mentees to their office to gain some workplace experience, share information about your own career path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling. As a mentor, your role is to help these students with exploring careers, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources to help jump-start their careers. Mentors and Mentees will then meet head over to SL Green’s office at 420 Lexington Avenue for networking, a presentation by SL Green Executives and a tour of One Vanderbilt. Event Schedule: 11:00-1:30: Students and Mentors meet at their Mentor’s office 2:00-4:00: Presentation, networking and refreshments at SL Green’s office (420 Lexington Ave) followed by a tour of One Vanderbilt What is One Vanderbilt? One Vanderbilt is a 77-story (67-floor) supertall office skyscraper under construction at the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in midtown Manhattan, New York City. Developed by SL Green Realty as part of a planned Midtown East rezoning, the tower stands immediately to the west of Grand Central Terminal. Reportedly costing $3.1 billion to construct the new class A office tower which will include top-notch dining and retail, SL Green Realty has also invested ~$220 million in critical improvements to Grand Central, transit upgrades and the surrounding infrastructure. A groundbreaking ceremony for One Vanderbilt was held in October 2016, and the tower topped out on September 17, 2019, two months ahead of schedule. When completed in 2020, the 1.6 million-square-foot skyscraper’s roof will be 1,301 feet high and its spire will be 1,401 feet, making it the city’s second tallest office building and the fourth-tallest building. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, One Vanderbilt towers above the nearby Chrysler building by nearly 400 feet, and it’s visible from as far afield as Brooklyn and Queens.
