YM/WREA – 2019 Habitat for Humanity Day
Dear Members and Applicants:
Please join us for our 2019 volunteer day with Habitat-NYC on October 25th!
Where: Cooper Park Community Center 76 Kingsland Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211
When: 9:00am – 2:30pm
Activity Description:
Habitat for Humanity New York City (Habitat NYC) transforms lives and communities by building and preserving affordable homes with families in need, and by uniting all New Yorkers around the cause of affordable housing. A Brush with Kindness is part of Habitat NYC’s Construction Preservation Services (CPS) program, which provides construction rehabilitation services to existing low-income homeowners. This long-term, multi-generational housing affordability program is implemented at cost to shared equity co-ops, and other for low-to-moderate-income residents. A Brush with Kindness is working parallel with CPS, as a building level painting, minor repair, and beautification program.
Habitat NYC’s A Brush with Kindness program consists of multi-day projects of painting, planting, or doing light “fix-up” work in all five boroughs at community centers and low income affordable cooperatives. This work saves tenants and community centers thousands of dollars, and brightens the spaces, breathing new life into existing housing and community centers.
