New York Blood Center will partner with YMWREA for a blood drive on July 25, 2023. NYBC had declared the first blood shortage emergency of 2023 in March due to an alarming drop in blood donations. Hospitals and patients rely upon a steady flow of volunteer donors to receive life-saving donations, but, hybrid office schedules, remote work and seasonal holidays coupled with a two-year period of almost no youth donations during the pandemic have made blood donation less of a priority. The summer months are challenging for New York Blood Center to find enough available donors as schools are on summer recess and people travel. July blood drives, including the YMWREA blood drive, will help stabilize the local blood supply in the summer months. NYBC encourages all who are able to sign up and donate today. One blood donation has the ability to save up to three lives!
