Dear Members and Applicants,
We are pleased to announce that the November luncheon will be held on Tuesday, November 12th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. The lunch is being hosted by Two Trees at The Refinery at Domino glass domed penthouse located at 300 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This lunch will feature a discussion with Jed Walentas, CEO of Two Trees Management, one of the City’s most active developers with over five million SF of residential and commercial properties under management. Jed will discuss among other projects how Two Trees transformed DUMBO from a gritty, underutilized industrial district into a vibrant, creative community as well as lessons learned from the redevelopment of the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg. The project features over three million square feet of residential, commercial and retail space, including 700 units of integrated affordable housing, the award-winning six-acre fully public Domino Park, and the repositioned Refinery at Domino, a landmark transformed into 460,000 of Class A office space. Also making its debut this year, is One Domino Square, a residential building with both condos and rentals and Domino Square, the final extension of the park complete with amphitheater and ice skating rink.
Mr. Walentas will be interviewed by Mary Ann Tighe, CEO of CBRE’s New York Tri-State Region since 2002. The Wall Street Journal has written, “(There is) an exceedingly small club of women who have managed to move to the top of the brokerage business. That club’s most prominent member is Mary Ann Tighe.” Crain’s New York Business has named Mary Ann the most powerful woman—across both the public and private sectors—in New York, and chose her for induction to the Crain’s Business Hall of Fame. Placing her at the top of its ranking of the City’s most powerful women.
Jed and Mary Ann will also discuss the important role that REBNY plays for our City’s growth. Jed was appointed Chair of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), where he works closely with the city to support growth for New York’s real estate development. Mary Ann served as Chairman of the Real Estate Board of New York, the first woman to hold this position in REBNY’s then 114-year history, and the first broker in 30 years.
Invocation will be given by Lauren Calandriello, former Chair from 2022
